What better ride while in the Andes than on an ancient Inca trail? Make sure you set up your bike for EPIC. Starting near glaciers at around 5,000m (16,500 ft) we will make our way down to the high jungle of 1,000m (3300 ft). During the ride we will go up and down on Inca paving, steps, and singletrack.
• Ride down a 70km (45 miles) Inca trail, almost entirely downhill.
• Two days of biking through the Yungas region plus one night of camping under the stars at 2,000m.
Those with extensive MTB experience and good fitness level, who want to ride a trail on a level that only the Andes can provide. A must do for an MTB holiday in South America!
Starting near glaciers at around 5,000m we will make our way down to the high jungle of 1,000m. During the ride we will go up and down on Inca paving, steps, and singletrack. There is no vehicular support here, so for the first day we will need to carry our own lunch.
At night we meet the porter who will have camp set up and a hearty locally cooked meal and beers waiting for us. Tonight we camp out under the incredible Andean stars in a small village called San Francisco at 2,000m of altitude. It might get chilly for the night, but we will provide you with a sleeping bag, tents, and sleeping pads so that you can rest as much as possible before our second day of riding.
After a fresh cooked breakfast, we will head back out to the trails, wrapping up the second day with singletrack, hanging wire bridges, and steep steps sculpted by Inca hands hundreds of years ago. Some sections will require you to carry your bike uphill as they are too steep to negotiate. No matter what your level of experience is, the Choro Trail is sure to challenge you and push your physical boundaries, as your mind is filled with the wonders of a life lived by people hundreds of years before you.
