Skreeing is the activity of riding mountain bikes down steep, long, gravel banks and slopes. The experience is similar in concept to downhill skiing, but with Gravity s incredible Kona Stinky mountain bikes it s arguably even more fun.
Gravity invented the "Skreeing" ride after several of our guides went scouting for fun things to do in their spare time. They found this unique activity hidden in secret spots in the mountains around La Paz and then tested it with several hard-core downhill mountain bikers. Variously reported by them as "the most fun I ve had with my clothes on in years," and "I can t believe I m being paid to have so much fun on my bike," we decided to offer this ride as a 1/2- to 3/4-day ride out of La Paz for adrenaline junkies.
We head out of La Paz at around 8 am in our Toyota Landcruiser "battle wagon" loaded with bikes and gear, high into the mountains (4,750m above sea level) where we take 4wd tracks to the top, unload and suit up in full-face helmets, body armour and downhill gloves. Our guides will run riders through a variety of techniques before choosing a line down the mountain. You then bomb to the bottom at high speed, carving lines, hitting little jumps and drops -- and generally ripping it up.
Once at the bottom we load up again and shuttle to the top of that line or one of the many other lines. Literally there are hundreds of lines, and Gravity s guides are able to choose them depending on rider ability and energy. Gravity s guides will take photos and video of you riding different runs, and these are available on CD at the end of the day.
During the day we provide snacks, drinks and a basic lunch to keep your energy up.
